New e-databases – July to November 2020

The Hong Kong Public Libraries is dedicated to continually enhancing its digital collection. Five special e-databases were released in July to November:

Art & Architecture Source

Art & Architecture Source is a full-text art research database covering areas such as fine art, decorative art, commercial art, architecture and architectural design. The database comprises academic journals, magazines, books, trade publications and images with the earliest content dating back to 1914.

Britannica Library

Britannica Library carries information on a range of topics for every age and level. Readers can find a wealth of content in the database, such as articles, images and videos on history, literature, science, geography and arts. Daily news headlines from around the world are also available.

Business Book Summaries

Business Book Summaries provides concise summaries of leading business books from prominent publishers. Various topics are covered, such as business biographies, change management, communication, entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, personal growth, productivity and technology, with new topics being added regularly. Most of the book summaries are available in audio form.

Gale OneFile: Culinary Arts

This database offers full-text articles on cooking and nutrition from major magazines and academic journals. It covers all aspects of knowledge in cookery, such as food ingredients, kitchen appliances, nutrition, cooking techniques, food culture, hospitality industry, etc.


Gale Presents: Peterson's Test and Career Prep

This e-database is intended for those who aspire to study overseas. It provides information on college planning, undergraduate and graduate programmes, scholarship application and career development. Practice tests for college entrance examinations and international examinations, as well as advice on resumes, cover letters, interviews and social networking are also available.
