4.23 World Book Day

In 1995, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) decided that World Book Day would be celebrated on 23 April to promote the enjoyment of books and reading. In support of World Book Day, the HKPL launches various activities in the theme “Exploring the New Frontiers of Reading” this year to help readers broaden and deepen the scope of their reading.

“Librarians’ Choice” Promotes Extensive Reading

HKPL librarians introduce good reads in specified subjects of each quarter. The subjects in April include “Adult Chinese Fictions”, “Travel” and “Sports and Fitness”.

The competition aims to broaden and deepen the reading scope of children and youth, so that they will grow up towards enriched lives with reading.
