You like Tom Cruise, but I love Lee Child more.

My first encounter with Lee Child’s stories was from the movie "Never go back" starred by Tom Cruise in 2016. "Never go back" is an action film which has loads of action and physical impact like Tom Cruise’s "The Mission Impossible series". I got excited after the movie and decided to get back to the original story to know more about the protagonist Jack Reacher. Then I found the novel was much more interesting than the movie.

Jack Reacher is a former cop and serviceman. He is a big and strong man with good fighting skills and lives like a lone ranger. In the story of "Never go back", Jack is on his way back to old military headquarters to meet his former commander, Major Susan Turner. Someone knows he is coming and wants him to run and never go back. But Jack learns that Turner has been accused of treason and is detained. He suspects it is a foul play and wants to prove his old unit head is innocent. To uncover the truth, Jack has to find out the bad guys and also the conspiracy behind. It is a straightforward good guy and bad guy story. In the real world, good guys do not necessarily win. But in Jack Reacher stories, you will never miss to see the bad guys getting proper punishment. Obviously, it will give you a moment to an imaginary world where good people are being protected. And I love to read Lee Child stories when I want to have a relaxing and refreshing holiday from reality. My advice is that, in time of epidemic, Don’t STAY HOME without it!!

Lee Child started the Jack Reacher series in 1997. Jack Reacher stories are great read with well thought-out plot and good detective work. As in 2020, there are 24 Jack Reacher novels and a number of them were "New York Times" bestsellers. Please go to the library and get one for yourself.
