This book is a true story of author’s daughter – Saje. Saje was very frustrated with the bumps on her face when she was a kid. She felt very unhappy and sought help from her dad. Her dad taught her to try talking to the “bumps”. Of course, everyone knows it is not sensible to talk to the bumps but Saje still went for a try. One day, she found that the bumps were gone and she could not believe that her dad’s suggestion actually worked. In the real world, everyone would come across different challenges, there is no exception, and no one can escape from it. When you were young, mom and dad would give you an answer to solve a problem; however, when you grew up, they would not be with you all the times. You should learn how to overcome obstacles and find a solution. Every time you overcame a problem, you learnt from a lesson. Although, sometimes you may not find a solution right away, at least do not get frustrated. You should always stay positive to deal with problems and difficulties. You should cheer yourself up. Say something good to yourself and remain confident and brave. As what the author said, “stop giving it power over you”. Sometimes when you are in trouble, you could seek assistance from parents, teachers and friends. You need to be brave!
The book encourages kids to understand that they have the ability to find ways to resolve difficulties. The families could share their worries and provide strong support to them whenever possible. This book is short and comes with colourful illustrations. It is recommended for bedtime stories for children.
