Have you ever wondered how an artist sees the world?

Claude Monet is one of the most famous French Impressionist painters in the world. He loved painting outdoor landscapes with vivid colours and captured how light was shown on various materials in different times of the day. He spent a long time in nature to depict the sceneries with loose brushstrokes and palettes of colour on canvas. One of Monet’s famous quotes explains, “forget what objects you have before you… Merely think, ‘Here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow,’ and paint it just as it looks to you.” His passion and appreciation for light and nature had contributed to many of his famous paintings on haystacks, water lilies, flowers and gardens.

This book, developed in collaboration with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, shows Monet's artistic vision and creative process to children by using colorful illustrations. It examines how Monet's family, friends, fellow artists and living environment influenced his distinctive painting style. It introduces Monet's major artworks and techniques and explains key art-related terms and concepts to help young readers to develop a deeper understanding of Monet’s artwork and the art world. The book includes engaging questions and hands-on activities to stimulate children to explore different perspectives on life, experiment with expressions in their art, develop aesthetic senses, and acquire practical painting skills and techniques.

This is an attractive, educational, and inspiring book for parents to read with their children. It encourages young readers to view the world through the lens of artist and stimulates creative ideas, empowering them to start creating their own masterpieces.
