American artist Ra Paulette has been hand-carving the sandstone caves since 1990. Unlike the ordinarily dark and dingy cave dwelling, the underground fantasy world created by Ra Paulette is composed of cathedral-like art caves bathed in natural skylight. The walls are decorated with three-dimensional forms of floral patterns, waves, spirals or shells, displaying meticulous craftsmanship with striking architectural beauty.
The Last Handwoven Incan Bridge in Peru
The Incan suspension bridges were made of ichu grass and once common in the Incan transportation network. The Q’eswachaka Rope Bridge is the only remaining one suspended above the Apurimac River. It is renewed every year by the Quechua-speaking peasant communities with the traditional skills and materials. The Lost City under the Fuxian Lake
Fuxian Lake is ranked the third largest and deepest freshwater lake in China, covering 212 square kilometers and reaching 155 meters deep at its greatest depth. The Lake is well-known for its crystal-clear waters and its exhilarating natural surroundings. Besides the beauty of its scenery, the lake has been shrouded by a veil of secrecy and mystery since the discovery of an ancient city beneath the water in 2001. Although underwater expedition has been carried out, the age of the city and the absence of its historical record are still mysteries until now.
