By Marie Benedict

Introduction by Librarian

It’s no doubt that Agatha Christie is a famous mystery writer popular among readers. She is the best-selling novelist especially on crime novels, which always have been adapted into television series and mystery thriller movies, for example, the Oscar awarded “Murder on the Orient Express” and the “Death on the Nile”. However, readers seldom knew about her history and may never heard about her sudden disappearance in 1926 when Agatha had a quarrel with her husband and was asked for a divorce. Many readers were shocked by the disappearance of Agatha and this news was featured on the front page of the New York Times. And mysteriously, Agatha was found in a hotel with a different name after 10 days and she claimed she had amnesia and had no clues on her disappearance.

This book “The Mystery of Mrs. Christie” is based on the 11-day disappearance of Agatha. The writer, Marie Benedict, imagined herself as a detective by studying the marriage of Agatha and tried to use her imagination to reconstruct the incident. She tried to investigate what was going on with Agatha, what Agatha did, the places Agatha visited and people Agatha had come across with.

No matter if this story is true or not, the disappearance of Agatha is always a mystery and so is her life. If you are a fan of Christie or a lover of classic mysteries, you must read this book.
