Stick Man
By Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler

Introduction by Librarian

Stick Man, a delightful picture book, is another masterpiece from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Have you ever drawn a stick man on your art work? Look, this Stick Man is different from that in your drawing. It is a lively stick, living in a family tree with his Stick Lady Love and three stick children. He has an unexpected adventure because people treat him as a normal stick. He is fetched by a dog, thrown down into a river as a Pooh-stick, and subsequently drifts down the river and sails out to sea. This adventure drives him far away from his family tree, leaving his Stick Lady lonely and the children sad.

Here comes Christmas. Stick Man has a dream of getting home with his Stick Family while the stick children toss and turn in the bed, thinking of their Stick Dad. Who can make their dreams come true? The Santa Clause can. How will Stick Man and Santa come across each other? It is another intriguing twist.

This rhyming story is enchanted and great to read aloud with children. The detailed illustrations are expressive and distinctive. Children will love the happy reunion ending and want to read this story over and over again.
