Careers if you like music
By Laura Roberts

Introduction by Librarian

If you like music, you might want to do something around music for a living. When most people think of careers in music, singers and performers are probably on top of mind. There are actually a lot more career options in the vast music industry, not all of them involve performing on stage and not all of them require musical abilities.

This book highlights various careers in music, describing a typical day on the job, the education needed, personality and skills, working conditions, expected income, job prospects, and so forth. Each chapter includes a sidebar with some basic facts of the job, quotes from the professionals in the field, and a list of useful websites. For me, it would be amazing to work as a music journalist and get to interview my favorite artists and write great stories about them. In the final part, the author interviewed with a singer/songwriter, talked about his journey to become a musician and his advice for students who are interested in music careers.

This easy guide encourages young music lovers to follow their passion and offers tips on how to get a foot in the door of the music industry. They will also learn that, possessing the right personal qualities is just as important as having musical talent to be successful in the music business.
