By Aaron Fisher
Introduction by Librarian
As a tea lover, I always enjoy reading while sipping a cup of tea. Now let’s read and learn more about tea…
The book, “The Way of Tea” starts with the history and some Chinese philosophy of the Tao (“the Way”) as well as introduces its connection with harmony. To inspire spiritual wellbeing in relation to tea, the quality of a tea serves as a key that relies on seven aspects including the environment, the trees, the season, the weather, processing, storage and preparation.
Along with the book, readers can discover different aspects of tea in both practical and spiritual way, from ancient time to modern life. The author brings readers into the wisdom of tea masters by exploring the “Tao of tea” (茶道), the healthful and holistic benefits of drinking tea and so on. In the book, readers can not only widen their knowledge and insights on tea, but also vividly experience the ancient tea culture from the color pages of art collection.
While walking down such a wonderful journey with the book, I personally developed an appreciation from the Chapter – “Guide to A Simple Ceremony”. Step by step, readers will be taught how to prepare and complete a tea ceremony satisfactorily. With no question, it is a definitely useful guide for a tea novice.
Living in Hong Kong such a busy city, may this book fill your bowl of tea with calm and peace, bring you simplicity and a bliss of happiness, without drifting in the past or worrying about the future.
